Albatross is a beautiful Romney ram from Loch Lamond Farm in Alberta. His wool is typical of the breed : semi lustrous, strong, and bouncy. Skeins of Albatross' yarn are 178 meters (195 yards) in 3 ply Dk weight.
Romney sheep are native to marshy areas of England, making them resistant to the challenges that some breeds face in damp habitats. They have a strong constitution and produce pounds upon pounds of fluffy fibre. We have several Romney sheep here at Gladsheim Farm, though Albatross is not from our flock. Romneys are like teddy bears, very personable, cuddly and inquisitive. Ours have always been very gentle and endearing.
Romney wool is suitable for next to the skin garments and its strength and durability make Albatross' wool a great choice for mittens, hats, and sweaters. You might find a wide variety of pattern choices if you pair Albatross' yarn with Kaffe's naturally black Romney/Merino blend.

Notes :
This wool was grown by a ram named Albatross on Loch Lamond farm in Alberta and processed at a family-run fibre mill in Rosebud, Alberta. You can be sure that your yarn has been handled with love in all stages of its production.
Due to the slow method of transforming raw wool into yarn, each small batch is one of a kind and will reference the individual sheep who grew the fibre. Please ensure you purchase the right amount for your project as given the nature of small batch yarn, there may be variations in fleeces from year to year.
Enjoy using this Canadian farm raised yarn from Albatross. We hope that the garment you create brings great joy and perhaps becomes an heirloom piece in your wardrobe.
Please understand that all attempts have been made to accurately photograph the colour of this yarn. Due to the range of individual settings on computers, there may be unavoidable colour variance.
