Maya yarn is a softer than soft decadent blend of wool and cashmere. Sourced from a Canadian yarn house, Maya is 192 metres (210 yards) of worsted weight yarn, with 80% wool combined with 10% cashmere and 10% nylon added for strength.
The luxurious Folklore line is sourced from Canadian yarn houses, and is hand dyed with conventional fibre reactive dyes in the Wool Maiden studio. Most of the colourways are a careful blend of complimentary hues, while some of the others are solid colours, allowing for a diverse pallette especially suited to fade work. (Please note that all "solid" colours do have some variegation.) You can be sure that each skein of Folklore is handled with love and that all the colours reflect our love of nature.
Maya is a wonderful choice for elegant garments that have a super soft handle, yet are strong enough to endure good wear. Maya is recommended for next to the skin items like hats and cowls, and is an especially good choice for baby garments. The added strength of cashmere and nylon will also give sweaters and shawls durability. Maya is an all around workhorse of a yarn, and as beautiful as you can imagine.

Notes :
The Folklore line of yarn is dyed conventionally, using professional acid dyes. Each skein is carefully rinsed thoroughly until the water appears clear, but you may experience slight colour bleeding in the first wash. As with all hand dyed yarn, colours may vary slightly from skein to skein. If you are using more than one skein, it is recommend you alternate rows between skeins to ensure good blending.
Hand dyeing with natural dyes leaves room for subtle differences in dye lots so please ensure you purchase the right amount for your project. It is a good idea to alternate rows when you move from skein to skein to ensure a smooth transition.
